State Vet no-show is not on

What about the pet owners who walked their dogs over long distances on what was an exceptionally hot day, only to find no-one there to provide this vital service?

EDITOR – Last week we drove to the free rabies clinic at Arbour Crossing at the time advertised in the South Coast Sun dated 18 January, only to find there was no such clinic operating.

Multiple enquiries later, we were advised to proceed later in the day to the Athlone Park library, where our pets duly received their rabies jabs.

Given the high prevalence of rabies in KwaZulu-Natal, surely it is incumbent on the State Vet to ensure every one of these clinics is set up and manned at the advertised time and venue?

We had the luxury of a vehicle to drive to Arbour Crossing. What about the pet owners who walked their dogs over long distances on what was an exceptionally hot day, only to find no-one there to provide this vital service? On behalf of our community, could you follow up with the State Vet as to the reason why that particular clinic did not materialise and how such an occurrence will be prevented from happening in the future.
