EDITOR – In light of the many incidents where pedestrians are being hit by trains, I ask why those crossing the railway lines don’t instead use the pedestrian bridges that are provided?
The same applies to the high number of people who are struck down on the freeway where more often than not, they lose their lives. It is understandable that as humans, we have grown increasingly lazy over time.

But can they not try to keep in mind that a limb at the very least, let alone their life, is at stake when they choose to cut over the train tracks instead of walking a few hundred metres (at the most) more to use a pedestrian bridge. The speed at which trains travel – similarly cars travelling on the freeway – means a mammoth force will impact a mere human body.

While we think we are somewhat invincible, there’s no question about who will come off second best in a dice with either of these machines.
