#ChildSafety – Insist on seatbelts

Many accidents take place and are reported daily wherein passengers die or are severely injured.

EDITOR- I am shocked by the number of times I drive past vehicles and see a young child sitting on the passenger’s lap or alone in the front seat and more often than not, without even wearing a seatbelt.

A year ago I was walking through Warners and saw a bakkie’s passenger door fly open as the driver took the corner.

Out tumbled a little boy, clearly in his early grades of school, whose parents relied on the driver to take him home safely that afternoon. Parents, I urge you to consider the fragility of life, let alone that of your little child.

Many accidents take place and are reported daily wherein passengers die or are severely injured. Take care of your young ones, they don’t understand the danger they are in when demanding to sit in the front seat or on a lap unstrapped. You, as adults and parents do. Take the opportunity to educate your little – and even the not so little ones about safety on our dangerous roads.
