EDITOR – It is not a matter of it but when a motorist will plough through the severely compromised roadside barrier and over the hill, where Kingsway leads into Athlone Park from Prospecton.
The armco barrier bears scars of having been struck in about five separate sections, which renders it completely useless.
It’s not surprising if one considers the speed at which motorists travel on this section of what they clearly believe is their own personal racetrack.
Surely this has been noticed by the ward councillor for Athlone Park, and action taken?
If it has, one would hope that equally, notice has been paid to the imminent collapse of the road underpinnings on that same hill, where at least three sections of the road are already showing signs of a small washaway on the hillside towards the golf course.
I suppose all will have to go to hell for any action to be taken. Sadly, it may well be at the cost of someone’s life.
