City nuisance by-law is a joke

Patrons drink freely in the parking area and the pavement outside.

EDITOR – It was with sadness that I read of the pensioner who had been fined for having her car washed by a car guard.

READ IT HERE: Avoid fines, imprisonment for acts of ‘public nuisance’

There is a certain establishment in Athlone Park which blatantly flaunts and breaks many aspects of the said by-law with absolute impunity.

The particular establishment has been operating since 2015, much to the disgust and horror of the quiet suburb. The owners of the establishment place speakers on the pavement outside of their business and blast loud, thumping music from 6pm on a Friday night to 4am on a Saturday morning and from 7pm on a Saturday night until 4am on a Sunday morning. Patrons drink freely in the parking area and the pavement outside.

Vehicles are revved at, hooters are blown and drunk patrons scream at one another the entire time. To add insult to injury, the patrons freely use surrounding property boundary walls as urinals. When called, the police are insulting and extremely rude, not just to one complainant but across the board. It is a sad case of the law not being applied as it should.

SERIOUSLY SLEEP DEPRIVED RESIDENT
