The man who said yes

...my present condition is not my final destination

By Daren Said

Once there was a man who lived in the world of no.

A world full of negative people who knew nothing but complained all the time.

The energy they had was so negative, below zero, that they said no to opportunities without even realising it.

Now there was this man who lived a different life from these negative individuals.

It seemed as if he had nothing at all, but he had a secret that he buried inside his mind that kept him going and kept him smiling all the time.

He lived almost like a king or even perhaps better, because he had no worries and no fears of losing.

You could tell by the way he spoke, the confidence in his words and the way he walked had so much flavour that it caught many eyes.

His humour was so amazing that the birds of the sky came by and sat on his porch and sang fine tunes while he fed them.

His patience carried his hands and feet. Everything he ever touched became valuable as gold. Everywhere he went people, animals and plants had a spark in them.

You would swear he was using magic but all he was using was just a simple word ‘Yes’. The word became a mentality that regained him postiveness and created confidence in him to carry on from where he fell, should he had fallen spiritually and or emotionally.

The man was confronted by one of his neighbours who asked him how he stays positive and he always happy even though the area they lived in was the poorest of the poorest.

The houses they afforded to build were made out of cardboard and in winter it was very difficult to stay warm and in summer the heat was unbearable.

This man’s sad neighbour was shocked to see this man living a positive life under such negative circurmstances and so he asked, “How can it be you seem so positive and happy under these conditions we live under?

We are very poor, yet you are still positive as if you know you will have a better life tomorrow.

Can’t you see you never going to get out?”

And the man answered his neighbour, “Yes, I may be poor but I am rich in the mind.
Yes I see my present condition but it is not my final destination.

I am in charge of my thinking and my thoughts label my future and also present situation.

I may choose to sulk and be affected by my current situation or I may choose to acknowledge it positively and also create a strategy along with a plan to get out of the situation.”

This story of the man who said yes teaches us to stay positive at all times. Saying yes to the situations we face on a day-to-day basis doesn’t mean we are agreeing to their terms and conditions but rather we are acknowledging them as either threats in our lives.

To drift away mentally and focusing on the bright side of things, we can win no matter where we are from or what society thinks of us.

We are the drivers of our lives and we decide to win or to lose by listening to the negativity.
