EDITOR – I write with great disgust about the ‘Hell-oween’ post published in last week’s Sun.
All Christians beliefs came from long before there were any Christian churches and your Christmas comes from the celebration of the winter solstice in the Northern hemisphere – it was never Jesus’ birthday. He wasn’t even born in December.
And frankly the writer of ‘Hell-oween’ is not very educated and should have done their research properly before posting nonsense like that. Samhain is in the Northern hemisphere this time of year – not in the Southern hemisphere. Samhain is about celebrating our ancestors and the lives they had on this living plane. Just to say it is celebrating the dead is false.
All South Africans should stop being so ignorant and realise we are a Third World country and that most of our Christian holidays don’t originate from Christians. It comes from pagan holidays.
So before posting something, educate yourself first and stop being ignorant and just plain close-minded and judgmental. Your Christmas is only a money making racket as well.
