EDITOR – I would like to thank the beach office, lifesavers, surfers, and especially Jace Govender at Amanzimtoti main beach for making my holiday that extra bit special.
I am from Benoni and have been wheelchair-bound for 10 years.
I arrived at Amanzimtoti beach during my holiday and was approached by a young surfer named Wesley. He offered me a free ride on a floatable wheelchair, and together with his friends on the beach, took me into the sea water for the first time in over 10 years.
Jace chatted to me for some time afterward and explained the plans they have for making Amanzimtoti beach the tourism hotspot for the wheelchair-bound people of South Africa.
Well done Amanzimtoti beach and thank you very much.
