Missing sewer manhole still unresolved

I sincerely hope the Sun will print the problems at hand, as call centres or departments are obviously not doing what they are supposed to do.

EDITOR – I would like to comment on a report that was made to the Ethekwini water department call centre on Monday, 4 January, which to date has not yet been attended to.

Reference No. F160104/316 reported that a sewage inspection cover had been removed or somehow come adrift from the inspection hole, and to date, no attention has been given to this matter.

On regular walks with our dog, the sewage main still remains open to the elements, which is now becoming blocked due to debris being thrown into the sewer. A photograph is attached of the sewer.

The sewer inspection hole is at the bottom of Park Road, where Park meets Elizabeth Avenue, Illovo Beach. Another matter that raises some concern are the storm water drains in Illovo Beach. An example of which is attached.

It is no wonder that storm water drains become clogged with leaves, sand and general debris and are only then attended to at an exorbitant cost – to the tax payer no doubt!

I sincerely hope the Sun will print the problems at hand, as call centres or departments are obviously not doing what they are supposed to do.
