Toti neglected compared to northern suburbs

Just take a stroll down the walkway adjacent to the beach from the lagoon to the main beach and see all the signs of neglect.

EDITOR – Being a resident of the area I sometimes wonder why anyone would want to come here on holiday.

If you compare present day Toti with areas like Umhlanga, Ballito and Durban, it’s chalk and cheese.

Just take a stroll down the walkway adjacent to the beach from the lagoon to the main beach and see all the signs of neglect. Compare this with the walkway along Umhlanga front or Durban beachfront and it’s a disgrace. Who is to blame ? Aren’t we all one municipality? What are our local councillors doing about it?

I’m not going to mention the lack of law enforcement, as it has already been covered. I would like an answer on why the two main swimming pools on Toti main beach and Pipeline beach close every day between 7.30am for at least two hours for cleaning. I witnessed around 30 holidaymakers being instructed to leave Toti pool one day, all pointing to the sign that said pool opening times 6am to 6pm. If we can afford extra security guards who sit around and do nothing, surely we can afford to have the pools cleaned before they open, or after they close?
