Political party’s hypocrisy is hard to swallow

While I accept the fact that grandstanding and scapegoating are a reality in the world of politics, the DA's blatant hypocrisy in this matter is hard to swallow.

EDITOR – Despite the fact that its conduct is seriously flawed, it seems the DA is determined to pursue the public humiliation of Dianne Kohler Barnard.

This is a sure sign of an organisation that is inherently weak.

While I accept the fact that grandstanding and scapegoating are a reality in the world of politics, the DA’s blatant hypocrisy in this matter is hard to swallow.

I refer to recent news reports regarding the utterances of Bonginkosi Madikizela, the DA’s MEC for Human Settlements, which appear to have been swept under the carpet. Mr Madikizela has apparently been taken to task by the DA’s Athol Trollip for having written racist comments directed at DA leader, Mmusi Maimane. He is quoted as saying that Maimane is ‘not black enough because he is married to a white woman’, and further ‘that he cannot be surrounded by white people’.

Apart from being highly personal, such comment is disgusting and surely racist in the extreme? By comparison, Ms Kohler Barnard’s alleged infraction pales into insignificance.

I would like to know what action the DA intends to take in the case of Mr Madikizela?
