EDITOR – In response to Cllr Andre Beetge’s letter “Dwelling like many others”, the only comment he made that is correct is that there are people occuping the ‘dwelling’.
As far as cleaning up, I trust your garden is not cleaned up like that.
You make no mention of the fact that the sewage is not functioning, as there is no water connected. The occupants have managed to source water by getting into the neighbour’s yard while they are away during the day, as they have confirmed this to me.
You state “the circumstances are not unique as thousands of households across the country don’t have tapped water or electricity” – please Mr Beetge we are talking about the ward you were voted into by the residents of Amanzimtoti, not the country.
The contents of your letter seem to suggest you condone this type of illegal occupation. What action has been taken by your office since this issue has been brought to your notice?
