Nowhere to go for hazardous waste removal

The reason stated by all was that the municipality stopped them.

EDITOR – I discovered recently that I was unable to safely dispose of hazardous materials.

Certain supermarkets, pharmacies and hardware stores used to provide containers at their respective businesses for use by the public, but no longer perform this service to the community with one exception, a pharmacy did take the expired medication.

The reason stated by all was that the municipality stopped them. The municipality, with conditions and at a fee, would take over this function. This, of course, leads to people dumping certain materials in stormwater drains or dumping it mixed with normal rubbish to be collected or deposited as garden refuse at the dump site. Examples of household hazardous material includes but is not limited to neon globes, battery cells used in electronic goods, used car oil, etc. Could I appeal, through this medium, to the responsible authority to put up his/her hand and guide our greater community?
