Animal NPO clarifies its role

Look out for the 4 Paws van when on the road and do give a hoot if you support what they are doing.

FOUR Paws and a Tale is fully into puppy season, with many little cuties that arrive every day, need protection and a forever home.

So adopt, don’t shop.

A big thank you to all the wonderful people supporting the charity shop in Toti by donating and buying goodies.

There is now a branch at the Ironwood Walk Shopping Centre in Pennington in a shop called Books and Things, as well as at 34 Barrow Street, Cottage Craft, Umkomaas. If you have anything you don’t want or need, they will collect.

Thank you to all who have donated food and bedding. Four Paws currently feeds 100 dogs and about 30 cats every day, thanks to the donations.

There seems to be some confusion with regards to what 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue is about, as it is inundated with calls from the public asking for help to rescue animals that are either running loose on a road somewhere or injured and in need of help. If you find an animal in distress and you personally cannot help, call the Protection Services or SPCA.

As their volunteers all work full time and are not equipped to conduct the kinds of rescues that Protection Services and the SPCA do, 4 Paws cannot help in these situations. Instead, call them when in need.

While they would love to help every animal that comes their way, they are not able to find homes for dogs and cats on short notice when people move. Kennel space is limited and mostly filled with dogs and cats that have no owners at all. Make arrangements for your animals way in advance should you be moving. It is heartbreaking to have to part with your dogs/cats as it is, and having to make instant decisions with regards to where they go is even worse.
