Should all glass not be disposed in the same bin?

Just then the 'guard' rocked up and confirmed that the bottle bin was for 'glass bottles' and not glass'.

EDITOR – I’m quite sure eTthekweni paid quite a large sum of R’s to whoever to supply, collect and dispose of orange bags which, I hope, many are taking advantage of as it is a great way to help the environment.

This said, my wife and I made a trip to the local DSW-run dumpsite to dispose of our weekly garden rubbish and December and January’s supply of glass bottles. Meticulously we dumped all glass bottles into the demarcated area and then proceeded to dump the garden refuse.

While doing so a half-ton LDV parked next to us and started to offload a rather large quantity of glass sheets the size of cottage pane windows. This wasn’t a small load either. We queried this with the driver and he confirmed that the guard had told him to dump along with garden refuse. Just then the ‘guard’ rocked up and confirmed that the bottle bin was for ‘glass bottles’ and not glass’. Can someone explain this as I don’t understand?
