Tell your children about ‘stranger danger’

I want everyone to be vigilant and remind your children to never go with someone they don't know

EDITOR – On Tuesday, 18 March at about 2pm, I decided to fetch my son from school as I had finished work a little earlier than planned.

Having driven there, not finding him and then checked at home, I became alarmed as I should have at least met him along the way somewhere. Just then I received a call from his school saying that there had been an incident and I needed to collect him in person.

As he had left the school gates and started to walk down the road, a man approached him and said he would take him home and knew where he lived. Fortunately I have repeated the strict instructions to never go with anyone, especially if they are a stranger. My son ran back to the school and this is when I received the call.

This is a busy time with all the children finishing, many cars driving about and many children walking, sometimes in groups, sometimes not.

I want everyone to be vigilant and remind your children to never go with someone they don’t know or even with someone they know but does not have full consent or prior approval to take them.
