* A CIRCULAR has been sent out to Natal schools this week by the Education Department, instructing them not to discriminate against the children of parents who do not pay the voluntary school fees.
This followed complaints about a school distributing a list of non-paying parents. According to a report in a daily newspaper earlier this week, a Warner Beach Senior Primary School parent complained that the school committee had taken to using ‘’bullying tactics’’ in order to get parents to pay outstanding fees.

* A R500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the culprits responsible for causing damage to two shop windows in the Southgate Mall last weekend.

* A MAN aged 61 and a boy aged 14 appeared in court in connection with an alleged rape of a young girl at Warner Beach.
Both man and the boy have pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape and indecent assault of a seven-year-old girl.
The incidents are said to have taken place between 1987 and October 1988. The hearing is still on-going in the Durban Regional Court.

* LIFEGAURDS on Natal beaches may ban the use of surfcraft if they deem sea conditions unsafe, or if bathers could be endangered by their use.
Such craft as sailboards, surfboards, kneeboards and other similar surfcraft may be banned by lifesavers and anyone using such craft in contravention of the banning will be guilty of an offence.

* THE elderly owners of a small Schipperke type dog are distraught at the disappearance of their pet.
Whiskey, who is a black female, is believed to have jumped out of the window of their car while being taken while being taken to the kennels in Wade Road, Amanzimtoti from their home in Kingsburgh.

* A DOONSIDE couple are full of praise for the prompt action of lifesavers after a heavy bathing beacon was blown over and landed on them.
The incident occurred on Sunday at Warner Beach, where Ivan and Desne Beeton had been swimming.
