* FOR the weary wayfarer, Granny Mouse’s Country House is an enchanting escape from this workaday world.  And when I was offered the chance to be transported there, to be wined and dined, it was an offer I could not refuse.  The occasion was the launch of a new ranges of fabrics by local designers with Wayfarer them in gentle country pastels.  The venue for the launch was inspired.  Curtains, table cloths and backdrops for fresh blossoms blended in with Granny Mouse Country House scene perfectly.  And for the Press party, the introduction to the place was heaven sent.

* ELECTION posters put up by the Conservative party in the Amanzimtoti area are being torn down and defaced and the vandalism has been reported to the police. Local CP chairman Piet Kichenbrand, told the SUN that vandalism of the posters was most prevalent in the Valley Road and School Road areas, as well as on certain sections of Kingsway. He said that only 10 of 40 posters put up by the party remained.

* SANLAM residents are showing their displeasure at being disturbed by late night revellers by hurling missiles down at the offenders.  The SUN received a phone call from Sanlam resident Mr Ian Heaton who expressed concern about the late night disturbances cause by the guests leaving beach front hotels.  Mr Heaton highlighted a particular incident which occurred on Friday September 2, when revellers assumed to be leaving Tankers at about 2am, made a loud commotion.  This obviously annoyed certain residents in Sanlam Park who threw bottled and glasses down onto the street.

* TWINI netball ended the season on top (of a mountain that is) but this seemed like tougher opposition than New Germany! Twini took “time out” on the weekend to rest at the Berg. They thought they try their hands at bowls but found themselves looking forward to the next netball season, except for Guilia Moro who managed to annihilate the opposition each time they became too confident –( a metre away from the jack) it was a well-deserved rest for the players who have devoted many of their Saturdays to netball.

* A CASE brought against the Toti Council by a parking garage owner has been dismissed in the Supreme Court with costs.  The case against “The Mayor of the Town Council of the borough of Amanzimtoti and others” was brought about by Mr Tony Aimsley of Airport Terminal Concessions CC.  It resulted from the awarding by the Council.
