Van der Spuy appeals to members of the community to assist the detectives with information that can lead to the successful apprehension and conviction of suspects.

“The community is urged to play an active role in reporting criminal activities and any suspicious behaviour. Information that can assist in solving crimes should be reported to the police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or tips-offs can be given via the MySAPS mobile application. Any information received will be regarded as privileged and confidential,” she said.

The police work hand in hand with the Community Policing Forum and sub-forums, security companies, armed response units and neighbourhood watch groups, looking at a proactive approach to combating crime. “A strong relationship between the police and the community continues to isolate criminals and create a safe and secure environment in and around the area,” said Van der Spuy.
