Isipingo Primary School celebrates Spring Day

Learners took a hands-on approach to learning about the environment by planting a plant, which they will nurture.

ISIPINGO Primary School celebrated Spring Day on September 2, emphasising the importance of trees, planting and environmental stewardship.

The event, coordinated by teacher Mumtaz Ismail, was aimed to instil a sense of environmental responsibility.

“We know that one day a year is not going to be enough, however, efforts are made throughout the year to discuss the significance of nature,” she said.

Zithulele Madadane of We Feed South Africa was invited to give a presentation on the importance of trees, greenery and the environment.

“He also highlighted the negative impacts of littering and the use of pesticides,” she said.

The learners also got to wear their most colourful, floral outfits. Each grade planted a plant, which they will nurture as a reminder of their commitment to caring for the environment.
