Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife rescues little grey duiker

The duiker was initially kept by residents of Illovo Township who thought it was a goat.

A LITTLE grey duiker, recently rescued from Illovo Township, is now under specialised care at the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (Crow).

Crow’s operations director Clint Halkett-Siddall said the locals initially thought it was a goat and kept it for three days before he was taken across to the Amanzimtoti SPCA.

“Upon arrival at our centre, he was examined and found to be dehydrated, with his umbilical cord still attached and his fur scruffy. He is now under the care of our antelope nurse, Zoe Dougall,” he said.

Halkett-Siddall encourages the community to protect wildlife by becoming a guardian.

“As a guardian, you become a valued member of a community of wildlife enthusiasts, supporting Crow’s efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and release indigenous wildlife. Your donation ensures the sustainability of the centre, providing a vital lifeline to injured, orphaned and displaced animals,” he said.
