Help make a paws-itive impact at Amanzimtoti SPCA

The Amanzimtoti SPCA appeals to the community to help the animal organisation fundraise R20 000 for future initiatives.

AMANZIMTOTI SPCA is hoping to raise R20 000 towards fundraising initiatives and appeals to community members and businesses for their support.

Every year, the SPCA organises various events, such as markets and open days, and takes part in large-scale events, such as the Highland Gathering.

The SPCA’s Michelle Hannan said that while these events serve as opportunities to engage with the public and raise awareness about animal welfare, they also come with unavoidable costs.

“From setting up stalls to printing flyers and gathering necessary materials, these expenses play a big role in the success of our promotional efforts,” she said.

Despite the contributions from their income-generating thrift stores, which primarily cover daily operational costs and the well-being of the animals under their care, Hannan said these funds do not extend to cover event expenses.

“The funds raised through this initiative will be used throughout the year to expand our outreach efforts and, in turn, help us care for the animals in need,” she said.

While the SPCA is grateful for the generosity of one of its dedicated volunteers who has been covering some of these costs, Hannan said it is important that they create a sustainable way forward that does not solely rely on a few individuals but rather the community as a whole.
