Prasa allocates funds to renovate, revamp coastal railway stations

The Winklespruit, Warner Beach, Doonside, Amanzimtoti, Ipahla, Umbogintwini and Isipingo railway stations are being renovated and revamped.

THE Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) has allocated funding to renovate and revamp railway stations from Winklespruit to Isipingo.

Ward 97 councillor André Beetge said it would appear that there is much speculation surrounding the activities at various railway stations.

“Let us lift the cloak of suspense by confirming that Prasa has indeed allocated funding and that the Winklespruit, Warner Beach, Doonside, Amanzimtoti, Ipahla, Umbogintwini and Isipingo railway stations are being totally revamped and completely renovated,” he said.

This significant undertaking aims to revitalise these key transportation hubs, enhancing both their appearance and functionality.

“We request that residents refrain from interfering with either the process, the contractors or the labour deployed to undertake these activities. There are community liaison officers deployed who act as conduits and who remain in contact with our office,” said Beetge.

He added that this should tie in perfectly with various community efforts that seek to beautify the town and its beaches.
