Ward 97 councillor André Beetge said that after being alerted of discolouration off Pipeline Beach, and in line with the AECI Property Services’ discharge line, the entity conducted an inspection and confirmed a rupture causing outfall closer to the shore as opposed to the normal 3.5km offshore.

“The necessary parts were immediately placed on order with expected delivery within the next two weeks. Residents are, however, assured that the discolouration, the extent of which is determined by currents and wind trajectories, is treated and not harmful to either humans, animals or marine life,” he said.

Beetge added that all the relevant authorities are aware, and AECI Property Services has requested that their apology for any inconvenience be conveyed to the public.
