Khanya Hospice welcomes volunteers to their charity shop

The hospice is always looking for volunteers to help out at one of their three charity shops.

KHANYA Hospice welcomes two new volunteers to their Toti Hospice Shop and appeals to community members to assist by either volunteering or donating.

The hospice’s CEO, Neil McDonald, said, “Thank you to the South Coast Sun for always reminding people that our three shops rely on volunteers.”

The Toti Hospice Shop manager, Ronel van Reenen, welcomed Ruan Buitendach and Nikky van Heerden, who offered to volunteer and help out in the charity shop.

“It’s wonderful to see that there are younger people who are willing and able to help. Sometimes, we need someone to climb on a ladder, and it’s not always easy for us [older] women to get on a ladder and take things down. We are so thankful for these two young people who came to our rescue,” she said.

Ronel is always looking for volunteers to help, and any kind of donation is also welcomed. “We are getting ready to set up for Christmas and are looking for furniture, bric-a-brac, linen and ‘whatever you have to give away’,” she said.

These items are put up for sale to help sustain the free nursing care that the hospice offers to people with life-threatening diseases, as well as support to their families.

Donations can be dropped off at their Toti Hospice Shop at 400 Andrew Zondo Road, above Two Vikings Fish and Chips.
