WATCH: Amanzimtoti SPCA commemorates World Animal Week

The animal welfare organisation's volunteers will be out at various local malls tomorrow, October 7, to collect food and funds.

IN celebration of World Animal Week, Amanzimtoti SPCA volunteers will be at various malls on October 7 to raise funds and create awareness about animal welfare.

World Animal Day is celebrated on October 4, but as an animal welfare organisation, the SPCA celebrates World Animal Week from October 4 to 10.

The SPCA’s Michelle Hannan said, “This is to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals.”

She added that through increased awareness and education, they can create a world where animals are always recognised as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare.

At its various stands set up at local malls, volunteers will either be asking for financial donations or food donations.
