Sandra Govender, who is a social worker at Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare Society, said they engaged with the community of Lower Illovo through an informative and interactive talk on women’s empowerment and gender-based violence.

“The programme covered essential aspects of self-care and self-love. We had Seargent Nondumiso Mncwabe from the Amanzimtoti Police Station provide the women with details and resources on how to get help from the SAPS when faced with gender-based violence. We also shed light on women purposefully making time for themselves and touched on a healthy mind and healthy body,” said Sandra.

She added that she was grateful to Illovo Primary School for being part of the empowering day and allowing for the use of the school hall.
