Masonic Lodge gives to charity

The beneficiaries of Lodge Grantleigh's charity bowls day were the Amanzimtoti SPCA and Jona Vaughan Home for the Handicapped.

LODGE Grantleigh held a charity bowls day at the Amanzimtoti Bowling Club on August 13 to collect much-needed food and funds for two charitable causes.

The Masonic Lodge’s Dallas Davis said the Barflies Bowls was a fun-filled event, giving the community a chance to try their hand at bowls while also raising funds or donating toward the Amanzimtoti SPCA and Jona Vaughan Home for the Handicapped.

“One of the aspects Freemasons focus on is giving back to the community. We chose the SPCA because of their dire financial situation, and Jona Vaughan, who is always in need of food for its residents,” he said.

Lodge Grantleigh’s Dallas Davis and Bobby Henderson (Master) hand a cash donation over to Amanzimtoti SPCA’s Michelle Hannan (middle).

R5 000 was handed over to the animal shelter, along with food. The groceries for Jona Vaughan were bought and handed over last week.

Lodge Grantleigh thanked all its sponsors for their generous donations towards the successful charity day.

The SPCA’s Michelle Hannan thanked them for making them one of their beneficiaries. “Amazing funds were raised and also a donation of food was received. Thank you to everyone involved. We feel amazingly blessed and supported by our beloved community,” she said.
