Toti Central Community Police Sub-Forum embarks on camera drive

The cameras can be accessed by community members and security companies in order to help strengthen crime-fighting efforts.

WITH the help of residents, the Toti Central Community Police Sub Forum has been able to install its first camera system to help strengthen crime-fighting efforts.

The sub-forum’s chairperson, Dane de Klerk, thanked the residents of Entombeni Drive and surrounds, in particular, Graham Gauche, for coming together to raise the funds for a camera system to be installed at the intersection of Entombeni Drive and Wytham Harvey Road.

“This will greatly help in the fight against crime. It goes to show that when a community comes together, amazing things happen,” he said.

The more cameras they are able to install in the area, the fewer hours their 40 volunteer patrollers need to spend on the street.

De Klerk said, “These cameras can be monitored by the community at any given time, as well as accessed by security companies whom we are partnered with.”

The area they cover is from Isundu Drive to School Road, all the way down to Rock View Road and all the up to Wanda Cele Road, connecting on Seadoone Road.
