Isipingo CPF names new chairman

Junaid Iqbal was elected with other new office bearers to steer the forum.

BUSINESSMAN Junaid Iqbal has been announced as the new chairman of the Isipingo Community Police Forum (CPF) after Aidan David stepped down from the position to head the eThekwini District CPF Board.

Rishaan Bhagwandin, who is the Isipingo CPF’s executive secretary, wished David well as he assumes the new position with more responsibilities.

“In light of the above change, the Isipingo CPF Mother Body Executive Committee has been restructured to ensure we have the best people in the right positions to maximise the positive work output of what this committee strives to achieve,” said Bhagwandin.

Iqbal, a resident of Isipingo Beach, has served on the executive committee of the Isipingo Business Sub-Forum and on the Isipingo Beach Sub-Forum for a number of years.

“He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience which places him in the best possible position to take us forward. I humbly request the support from all members of this community towards this team as we move into a new chapter with a new vision on the fight against crime, with the collective goal of ultimately being the safety and security of the entire Isipingo community,” said Bhagwandin.

The other office bearers that were elected were Yaseen Khan as deputy chairperson, Rishaan Bhagwandin as executive secretary, Melisha Gounder as deputy secretary, Cassim Arbee as treasurer and Sharon Chetty as public relations officer. The members that were co-opted to the committee were Ridwaan Cassim, Yusuf Kajee, Denzil Reddy, Aidan David and Sars Govender.
