Amanzimtoti Community Theatre returns to stage

Auditions for the Barnyard-style show are during the last week of this month and are open to those aged 10 and older.

CALLING all singers, dancers and/or musicians, the Amanzimtoti Community Theatre (ACT) is set to return to the stage with auditions taking place at the end of this month.

After much community interest, director Mikhaila Wilson, who has also produced and directed musicals at Amanzimtoti schools over the last 17 years, is excited to get the show up and running again.

In 2014, ACT celebrated a successful first show called A Tribute to Disney, which helped raise R8 000 for the South African Women’s Touch Rugby Team, Project Rhino and Amanzimtoti SPCA. The ‘by the community, for the community’ show featured 40 individuals of all ages.

Auditions for this year’s Barnyard-style The Greatest Songs of All Time are open to those aged 10 and older and are set to take place during the week of July 24 to 28, at Kingsway High School’s hall from 16:30.

Those interested in working behind the scenes are also encouraged to sign up. Dates and times are subject to change, depending on community feedback.

The grand show is set to take place on October 12, 13 and 14.

Wilson said individuals do not need any experience. “The whole idea is to have fun and build community spirit, while raising funds for local charity organisations,” she said.
