Since about midday today, June 13, boats have been launching at Amanzimtoti Main Beach and hauling huge shoals back to shore.

He said he takes part in the annual Sardine Run to keep his family’s 150-year-old seine-netting heritage alive.

The sardine run is a migration of billions of sardines that happens every winter, and it sees the fish swim from Cape Agulhas every June/July to spawn.

Watch as angling reporter Vinesh Soogreem provides a breakdown of the annual Sardine Run.
