The event takes place in Pretoria during the July school holidays, and the management of the KZN Ringball Federation have embarked on a sponsorship and fundraising drive to enable Lynton and other members of the team to compete at the championships.

Ringball is a traditional, South African, non-contact, fast-playing sport that can be played by both male and female teams of all ages. Some of its elements are similar to netball and korfball.

Lynton recently received the Junior Man of the Year award at the 2023 KwaZulu-Natal Ringball Awards ceremony. He has also earned the KZN Colours for schools and is his school’s deputy head boy.

“I have always been active and participated in sports, including rugby, which I don’t play anymore because of an injury. It is an honour for me to be able to represent KwaZulu-Natal,” said Lynton.

His proud mother, Benita, said there are no words to express how she feels about her son’s achievements.
“He is a go-getter and always strives to come out on top. He never settles for second best, and his determination sees him winning all the time, no matter what he does,” said Benita.

Costs involved per player for the upcoming trip include R2 100 for accommodation, R1 800 for clothing and R2 500 for travelling.

To sponsor Lynton, donors can use the following banking details:
