The annual deep-sea angling competition's winners were decided by the weight of their fish.

Warnadoone Skiboat Club competition convener, Tim Munnik, said, “The competition is held every year to show appreciation to our women who assist with events and big interclub/inter-zonals, and just for everything they do. It is one of the few sports that families can partake in. Our club also boasts three women representing KwaZulu-Natal at an interprovincial and national level.”

On the day, the women were up bright and early before sunrise to enjoy a cup of coffee before the launch, while the beach crew, skippers and gillies got the boats ready. “They all enjoyed the ride down, with the tractor pulling us. They all held on for dear life during the launch. Then, the competition to catch the biggest fish was on,” said Munnik.

The winners were decided by the weight of their fish. The prizes consisted of holiday accommodation, hair and pamper vouchers, chocolates, handbags and more.

The top three were Elaine Woodhouse with a 30.52kg kingfish, Kerry Warne with a 13.64kg cuta and Jenna Jackson with a 10.22kg cuta.

Munnik said it was a phenomenal day, filled with many laughs and plenty of memories made. “It was a day to remember. All the women did really well – only three didn’t manage to catch a fish. But, we are sure they will be back next year,” he said.
