“We engaged in a struggle, and he tried to strangle me with his hoodie but I fought back,” said Rahman.

The suspect fled empty-handed, and after the alarm was raised, ET Rapid Response and the Community Crime Prevention Organisation Amanzimtoti (CCPO) officers responded immediately and gave chase. The suspect was spotted fleeing to Warner Beach along the railway tracks and was arrested and brought back to the crime scene.
A passerby who recognised the suspect said he was from Lovu and was recently released on parole from Westville Prison for robbery.

The suspect was handed over to Amanzimtoti SAPS for further investigation.
