Technician commits to attend to Toti sewage crisis

Beetge says the Technician has promised that there should be a difference by the weekend.

WARD 97 councillor, Andre Beetge once again took it upon himself to fetch the technicians in an effort to speed up repairs. Beetge said the acting chief area technician was taken to four sites, some of which have been problematic for months.

“I took him to the corner of Riverside and Hutchison roads in Amanzimtoti, where an excessive outfall exists. There are indications at the site that the outfall comes from higher up. He was also taken to opposite 55 Beach Road in Toti, where he was asked to follow up on another breakdown,” he said.

The technician was also taken to Isundu Drive and Kingfisher Road, as well as Trevor Wedley Close in St Winifreds, where he also witnessed the outfall.

“After noting all the areas, he made a commitment that there should be a difference by the weekend,” he said.

Beetge also said some of the sewage problems that plague the ward originate inland from other wards and are carried down and clog Amanzimtoti’s sewage system.
