Dance competition held in Amanzimtoti

This provincial qualifier for South African Masters 2023 saw five dancers making it through.

THE KwaZulu-Natal Meltdown 2023 dance competition was held at the Civic Centre in Amanzimtoti from March 10 to 12, featuring dance teams from around the province.

Organised by Linedance South Africa, the event served as the official provincial qualifier for South African Masters 2023 to be held in the Western Cape.

Five dancers from the Solo Rhythm team achieved first place in gold and silver. Serena Rajkumar congratulated her teammates.

“Congratulations to all our Solo Rhythm dancers who participated in Amanzimtoti this weekend. You are all superstars, and I am so proud of all of you. You have done our school proud. Thank you to those who came to the competition to support, cheer and encourage our dancers,” said Serena.

Solos:
Savy Munian: 1st – novice (silver)
Dorothy O’Neill: 1st – advanced (silver)
Jackie Despy: 1st – advanced (gold)
Teola Subramoney: 2nd – newcomer (young adult)
Vasanthee Govender: 2nd – newcomer (gold)
Ranjinee Govender: 4th – newcomer (gold)

Pro-Am:
Jackie Despy and Jerome Edwards (Just Dance): 1st – novice (gold)

Partners:
Dorothy and Shawn O’Neill: 1st – Gems.
