Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst said, “On arrival a single male patient about 50 years of age was found inside the warehouse clinic lying on his back and screaming with pain. The patient had a large laceration on his forehead, about 5cm, which was actively bleeding. Bleeding was ceased with gauze and a bandage. Vitals were done, and the patient complained of loss of sensation and numbness to lower limbs with general severe pain. The patient’s spine was immediately immobilised.”

Herbst said the man fell about 10 to 15m from the roof whilst working during the day.

“Treatment began and due to the severity of his injuries, Netcare 7 (a specialised helicopter ambulance) was called to transfer him rapidly to a level 1 trauma facility,” said Herbst.
