Luqa Zondi (18) lives with albinism, and he attended Open Air Academy in Glenwood. He obtained a Bachelor’s Pass with three distinctions for drama, IsiZulu, and religion studies. At a prize-giving ceremony on January 18, the Department of Education recognised Luqa for being in the top five in the special schools category. He said that even though he knew he was going to pass, he was surprised he got three distinctions.

“Because of albinism, my vision is impaired, which is why I had to go to a special school. I received a lot of assistance which enabled me to achieve these results,” said Luqa.

He has been accepted at the University of KwaZulu-Natal where he will pursue a law degree after getting a bursary. “I am truly grateful to Bet Software for this bursary because I now have a chance to fulfil my destiny,” said Luqa.
