Isipingo land invaders sent packing

A group of homeless people set up an informal settlement on an Isipingo resident's land, and Metro police dismantled the village.

ON WEDNESDAY, January 11, eThekwini Metro Police responded to a call-out from a property owner about people who had invaded his property in Isipingo and built an informal settlement.

Metro police responded to the location on Alexander Road, together with the Department of Solid Waste, and they dismantled the illegal dwellings. eThekwini Municipality is currently enforcing Operation Clean My City which is aimed at enforcing by-laws.

“We urge our communities to work with us in keeping our city clean,” said the municipality in a statement.
