Dog training classes start for 2023

The Umbogintwini Dog Training Club offers obedience, socialisation and show training.

UMBOGINTWINI Dog Training Club’s first course of the year commences on January 31, at the Lords and Legends field.

Puppies up to six months old train from 17:30 to 18:30, and older first-timers train from 18:30 to 19:30.

The cost of R330 covers the 10-week training programme, which runs until April 4.

“We offer puppy socialisation and basic obedience training. It is important for puppies to meet other dogs and people, and learn how to behave around people and in different situations. For older, untrained dogs, we offer obedience training and socialising. For those who want to participate in shows, we also do show training,” said the director of training, Di Turner.

She said they aim to show the handlers that training dogs is fun and a great way to build a bond with your dog.

Attendees are advised to have their puppy or dog’s vaccination book (with the dogs having had second vaccinations), treats (something to motivate your pet) and to bring along plastic bags in case you need to clean up after your pet.

The second course is from April 11 to June 13, the third course from July 18 to September 19 and the fourth course from September 26 to November 28.
