WATCH: Christmas lights shine bright at RE/MAX Toti

The Christmas lights display is open to the public every night until January 6, including public holidays, from 18:00 to 22:00. Donations of clothes, toys, shoes, food and toiletries for Bobbi Bear will be much appreciated.

EVERY year, RE/MAX Toti collects funds and donations for a deserving organisation with the Christmas lights it displays, this year they chose Bobbi Bear.

In addition to the annual Christmas lights display, community members were able to set up stalls. RE/MAX Toti social media admin, Melanie Hamilton said, “We feel that the last three years have been rough on our community, and we wanted to create an opportunity for enthusiastic entrepreneurs to create an income stream albeit short term.”

The stalls were offered to the community, free of charge, with a request that donations be made to Bobbi Bear. They have also started a raffle to which each stall holder contributed. There are four prizes up for grabs so far. The raffle tickets sell for R10 and can be bought at the market stalls or at reception. All proceeds from the raffle will go to Bobbi Bear.

“RE/MAX Toti is aware of all the community projects in the area that need assistance. We try very hard to help wherever we can. This year we decided to assist Bobbi Bear. At this time of year Bobbi Bear receives an influx of children who need help. We know that they will always need supplies, but if we can make it a little easier over the holiday season, we would like to try,” said Hamilton.

She also commends the brave entrepreneurs who have supported the market even through heavy rain and wind. “It has been a slow start to the market, but we do believe it will pick up soon. Most of the schools are finished with exams and many people have already started celebrating the holidays. Everywhere you go, the feeling of the holiday spirit is present, no less at the Christmas lights market,” said Hamilton.

RE/MAX Toti have always believed that the lights bring the community together. In the spirit of every Christmas season, they want to share the joy of that ‘Christmas feeling’.

Hamilton said, “Knowing that we provide a destination for our families in the community, even for a picnic and some pretty lights, really warms our hearts. Basically, it is a thank you to our community for supporting us and always coming together, even in the hardest of times.”

The Christmas lights display is open to the public every night until January 6, including public holidays, from 18:00 to 22:00. Donations of clothes, toys, shoes, food and toiletries for Bobbi Bear will be much appreciated.
