Ward 97 and beyond – pump stations update

It will only be a few days until the sewage problem is fixed once and for all as all problematic pump stations are being fixed.

Councillor André Beetge gives an update on various pump stations that have been repaired and those that are still in the process of being fixed.

Kingsway Road 2 – The pump’s spares have all been received. The pump is to be commissioned by Thursday.

Elcock Road is ready to be switched on, but it works in unison with Kingsway 2.

Longacres Drive – The sump has been partially cleaned, and the pump is functional.

Warnadoone and Topham roads – Both pumps are functional but will require further sump cleaning as sand in the system causes regular tripping.

Riverside Road 2 and 3 – The pumps are both functional.

Isundu Drive – The sump is partially clean, and a new pump will be fitted. It is scheduled to be commissioned by Friday.

Ipahla Road B and C – These are currently being cleaned by a tanker in anticipation of supply-chain management to secure new control panels.

Golf Course Road – The pump is fully functional.

“We are awaiting a replacement pump for the Flamboyant Road pump station in Isipingo as the pump was removed to assist a second pump to clear Golf Course Road that has a much larger disposal requirement,” said Beegte.
