Update on non-working Amanzimtoti pump stations

Most of the damage to the pump stations is a result of vandalism.

Ward 97 councillor André Beetge gives an update on the wastewater pump stations in the ward.

“Of the 23 pump stations in the greater Amanzimtoti area, six remain out of commission for the following reasons,” said Beetge.

  • Isundu Drive: This pump station was vandalised. A new control panel arrived, and we are waiting for the Electricity Department to install new power cables.
  • Riverside Road 2: This pump station was also vandalised. The sump has been cleaned and should be commissioned on Thursday, October 6, if all goes according to plan.
  • Riverside Road 3: The sump has been cleaned and should be commissioned on Thursday, October 6, if all goes according to plan.
  • Ocean View Road 2 (two sets): This pump station was vandalised. An insurance claim has been submitted.
  • Iphahla Road: This pump station was also vandalised. An insurance claim has been submitted.
  • Ellock Road: This pump station was vandalised, as well. The Electricity Department was on site on October 4 to initiate the installation of new power cables.
