Cupcake Angels visit Galleria Mall

The funds raised will enable Cupcakes of Hope to continue the support they provide to hundreds of young cancer patients.

CUPCAKE Angels were out in full force at Galleria Mall on October 1, for National Cupcake Day, selling cupcakes and raising funds in aid of childhood cancer.

Cupcakes of Hope is non-profit organisation (NPO) that supports children with cancer across South Africa. The NPO celebrated its 10th birthday this year by hosting National Cupcake Day events across the country.

Cupcake Angels baked and sold an assortment of delicious and beautifully decorated cupcakes, all in a bid to help a child in need. The day also included Disney characters, face painting and raffles, to name a few.

Cupcake Angels, Casey Boting and Siobhan Drake, walked for hours selling raffle tickets. To show appreciation for their efforts, Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer coordinator for Galleria Mall, Shyanne Kanayee, gifted the girls a mug and a certificate.

“We did not have as much support as previous years, but we are satisfied with the amount raise. It was a fun event. Children that passed by had fun and purchased cupcakes.

Thank you to everyone that contributed to making the day a success. All the volunteers that helped throughout the day, the people that sponsored cupcakes and all those that came and supported the cause,” said Shyanne.

For the NPOs 10th birthday, it hoped to raise R10 million. With over R1.8 million raised from 50 malls and 10 malls left to tally, they still have a long ways to go until they reach their target.

The funds raised will enable Cupcakes of Hope to continue the much-needed support they provide to hundreds of young cancer patients and their families every month. This includes covering their medical bills and other essential needs, from nappies to nutrition and every in between.
