Learners injured in Shulton Park accident

The learners on their way to Doon Heights Primary School who were injured in the accident were transported to hospital from the accident scene.

SEVERAL learners from Doon Heights Primary School were rushed to hospital after a minibus transporting them to school left the road and plunged into a ditch in Shulton Park this morning (October 3).

eThekwini Metro Police spokesperson Colonel Boysie Zungu said the accident happened on Longacres Drive, near the school.

“Several children have been injured and are receiving medical attention,” said Zungu.

Emergency services arrived and ferried the injured to Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital while the police processed the scene to ascertain the cause of the accident. Zungu urged parents and guardians to ensure their children are transported in roadworthy vehicles.

“Drivers must also exercise extreme care, especially when transporting learners. Our thoughts are with the injured, and we wish them a speedy recovery,” he said.
