Isipingo Clinic burglary condemned

ETHEKWINI Municipality has urged the community to report acts of crime and to stop buying stolen goods from criminals.

This comes after a recent break-in at the Isipingo Clinic in Orient Hills, which led to the loss of some valuable equipment. Ward 90 councillor Shad Nowbuth said he has spoken with the clinic’s manager, Sister Ncamisile Mgobhozi, about the challenges faced by the staff, including crime and operating with a limited budget.

“This happened while there were security measures in place. Despite the limitations, the clinic’s manager intends to provide high-quality healthcare service to the patients,” said Nowbuth.

eThekwini Municipality’s spokesperson Gugu Sisilana said the building that was burgled is a park home belonging to the Umlazi area office, which is situated at the clinic.

“We condemn acts of crime because of the negative impact they have on society. Criminals are members of our communities and live in our homes. Stolen goods are sold to and bought by our neighbours. Hence, the City urges communities to work together with police to end the scourge of crime. Crime and leads about culprits must be reported to the police,” said Sisilana.

Instead of buying the stolen goods, community members should report the crime to their nearest police station so that perpetrators are brought to book.
