TODAY (August 26), the eThekwini Municipality’s Environment Health Department will spray for mosquitoes at the Isipingo lagoon and estuary.

Ward 90 councillor Shad Nowbuth said this comes after Isipingo Beach residents complained of an infestation affecting their quality of life.
“The department has undertaken to assess the situation in the Isipingo lagoon and have it sprayed,” said Nowbuth.
Last year, a mosquito infestation, which had been worsened by water hyacinth, was mitigated by spraying and the removal of the weed. The Health Department said the water hyacinth provides good breeding conditions for mosquitoes because it deprives the water of oxygen.
