Obituary: Anna Cornelius

Anna Cornelius moved to Amanzimtoti with her husband in 1989 after retiring.

ANNA Cornelius, an Amanzimtoti great-great-grandmother who celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this year, passed away at Kingsway Hospital on July 13.

She was born on February 25, 1924, in Ottoshoop in the then-western Transvaal. She worked at the Rissik Street Post Office in Johannesburg for 44 years before retiring in 1989. The same year, she and her husband, John, moved to Amanzimtoti. John passed away in September 2016 after 71 years of marriage.

Anna is survived by four children and their spouses, nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on July 20 at NG Kerk Suidkus at 3 Frost Street in Amanzimtoti from 10:00, after which she will be cremated.
