Umbumbulu medical student gets first stethoscope

Wandiswa Shezi of Umbumbulu is in his first year of studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine.

MEDICAL student Wandiswa Shezi of Umbumbulu happily accepted his first stethoscope bought for him by Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo on June 27.

Dhlomo is a medical doctor, a member of Parliament, and the former Deputy Minister of Health who hails from Umbumbulu. Wandiswa (18) is currently in his first year at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine. He said he was excited to have a new modern stethoscope.

“I thank Dr Dhlomo for this gift which will come in handy during the next six years – for the duration of my studies,” said Wandiswa.

He matriculated at Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical High School in 2023 with flying colours and said he wants to specialise in surgery.
